This introductory, hands-on workshop will introduce participants to the fundamentals of one-color screenprinting through the creation of protest posters. Students will learn about the history of protest posters, with a focus on the events of May 1968 in France, when students and workers participated in strikes and demonstrations and screenprinted posters became an important tool for communicating political messages.
Participants will explore the collaborative process of creating protest imagery, learn the basic steps of screenprinting, and work together to design and print their own posters. The workshop will conclude with a group print exchange.
