Draw Jams - Vol 1

In case you haven’t seen the posts on the main site, every so often we like to get together and have little sessions where we kill a few hours drawing and shooting the bull.

Draw Day

At first it was just an excuse to get together, but after doing them on a semi-regularly basis we amassed a small pile of drawings, the result being the first volume of Draw Jams.

Each copy has a full-color cover and 40 pages of b&w details inside. With a long list of artists, including Andrew Jeffrey Wright, Alex Lukas, Bill McRight, Chris Kline, Matt Leines, Mark Price and many more, there is enough randomness to make you giddy!

Derek Weisberg & Matt Rebholz - Gallery Items In The Store

This month in the gallery, two prolific artists – Derek Weisberg and Matt Rebholz.

Derek Weisberg creates expressive, figurative sculptures from ceramics and found materials. He has created a large body of work centered around a sleepy character with droopy eyes and heavy hands meant to be a self-portrait of his feelings of melancholy and loss. Derek states that he made this work to express his emotions that came from losing a loved one and confronting ideas of the afterlife.

Matt Rebholz’s work is rooted in a firm knowledge of the intaglio process, with a combination of monotype, hard-ground etching, and chine collĂ© – creating a combination of subtle shades of tones and sharp line work. The prints illustrate a narrative of the Golem, and also hold their own as strong individual pieces. There is a beautiful hard bound portfolio case with the complete Golem series available upon request.

Also available are a t-shirts and bandanas from Matt and a show catalog from one of Derek’s previous shows, a great way to have a piece of their art at an affordable price.

Bill Daniels - The Great Depression

The month of April features a show by Bill Daniel, traveler Americana extraordinaire. A collection of art, objects, photos, and video of his over 2 decades of travel across the continent by train and van. Take a look at our gallery section for a selection of photographs from his punk rock days in Texas during the 80’s, to his adventures train hopping in search of elusive train taggers, to images of New Orleans after the flood.

Also don’t forget to check out new prints available by long time space member Isaac Lin. His style has been influential to a lot of things here at Space 1026 and is often times hard to find all by itself, so grab a print while they’re available. You can see some of his more recent installations here.
